What It Tastes Like

We found no Cigar Aficionado or halfwheel score for this maduro Classic. The fullest tasting account is an unscored 2007 Stogie Review write-up: a soft, creamy start with cocoa and a light sugary finish, vanilla through the first third, then a gentle clove-like spice around the midpoint. Neptune calls it medium-bodied with vanilla-edged sweetness.

Who It’s For

  • Fans of the natural Classic curious how the same 7-inch shape changes under broadleaf.
  • Evening smokers who want a slow, tapered cigar.
  • Hemingway collectors working through the series’ maduro sizes one by one.

Cons

  • No current professional score; the most detailed review we found dates from 2007
  • Published ring gauges disagree (46 versus 48)

About the Hemingway Maduros

Writing about the 2011 Short Story Maduro, halfwheel noted that the Short Story and Best Seller were the only Hemingway sizes not regularly made in maduro, and that the rest had carried a maduro wrapper for more than ten years. Fuente’s chart also lists the Classic in natural and sun-grown wrappers; Cigar Aficionado’s ratings identify the natural’s leaf as Cameroon.
