Description
The Arturo Fuente Hemingway Work of Art Maduro is one of the most visually striking shapes in the entire Fuente portfolio — a bold, bulging perfecto that showcases the family’s mastery of hand-rolled craftsmanship.
Construction & Origin
Named for author Ernest Hemingway, the Hemingway line debuted in the early 1980s under master cigarmaker Carlos “Carlito” Fuente, continuing a legacy started by his grandfather Arturo Fuente and expanded by his father Carlos Sr. The Work of Art is finished in a rare, dark Connecticut Broadleaf Maduro wrapper — only the best-aged leaves make it into this particular release — over Dominican binder and filler, hand-rolled at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia in the Dominican Republic. At 4⅞ x 46/60, it carries the largest ring gauge in the entire Hemingway line, tapering dramatically from a narrow nipple foot to a bold 60-ring belly before narrowing again toward the head. Production is genuinely limited, since only the most skilled torcedores have mastered this traditional Cuban perfecto shape, and each batch rests at Chateau de la Fuente before release at the end of the year.
Flavor Profile
Medium to medium-full in body, expect cocoa, cream, espresso, earth, and warm spice throughout a smoke that typically runs 30-40 minutes despite its bold shape. Reviewers consistently praise the smooth, plentiful smoke production and complex flavor for a stick that burns relatively quickly, calling it one of the standout sizes in the entire Hemingway collection.
Why It’s Sought After
Between its rare Broadleaf wrapper (uncommon across most of the Hemingway line), its genuinely limited annual production, and its status as the largest ring gauge Hemingway ever made, the Work of Art Maduro draws real demand from collectors who specifically seek it out — several reviewers note it regularly sells out or goes on backorder at retailers.
