1. Arturo Fuente Hemingway Series

A bit of history behind this one: A. Fuente & Company was founded in 1912 by Arturo Fuente in West Tampa — just down the road from us — before the family eventually moved production to the Dominican Republic, where son Carlos “Carlito” Fuente Jr. still runs it today. The Hemingway line launched in 1981, reviving the traditional perfecto shape that had nearly disappeared from the industry at the time.

2. Oliva Serie V Melanio

Consistently ranked among the top cigars in the world, and one of the most requested boxes in our humidor. Nicaraguan filler and binder wrapped in an Ecuadorian Sumatra leaf — rich and complex without being harsh. Dark chocolate, espresso, leather, and a finish that lingers.

The Oliva name goes back to 1886, when patriarch Melanio Oliva first grew tobacco in Cuba’s Pinar del Río region. After the family was forced out following the Cuban Revolution, they eventually resettled in Nicaragua, and the Oliva brand launched during the 1995 cigar boom. The Serie V Melanio — named in the patriarch’s honor — is rolled at the family’s own TABOLISA factory in Estelí and is a regular on Cigar Aficionado’s yearly Top 25.

3. Padron 1964 Anniversary Series

Made in Nicaragua with aged tobaccos, available in natural or maduro. This is the kind of cigar you smoke for a special occasion — or when Tuesday deserves to feel like one. It’s a regular pick for customers celebrating something in the lounge.

José Orlando Padrón started the company on Miami’s West Flagler Street in September 1964 — hence the name — before moving production to Estelí, Nicaragua in 1970, where the soil is often compared to Cuba’s famed Pinar del Río. The 1964 Anniversary Series is built exclusively from the top 10% of Padrón’s aged tobacco stockpiles, box-pressed by hand, which is a big part of why it lands on Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 nearly every year (it hit #3 in 2020).

4. Rocky Patel Vintage 1990

Aged tobacco at its finest. The 12-year-aged Honduran broadleaf wrapper delivers natural sweetness that blends beautifully with earthy, nutty undertones. Approachable enough for newer smokers but layered enough for experienced palates — we recommend it often as a bridge cigar for people ready to move past mild.

5. My Father Le Bijou 1922

Le Bijou — French for “the jewel” — was blended by Jaime Garcia as a tribute to his grandfather, born in 1922. His father, Jose “Pepin” Garcia, spent 40 years as a master roller in Cuba working on brands like Cohiba and Montecristo before the family opened their own factories, and that pedigree shows in this blend’s dark Habano Oscuro wrapper over all-Nicaraguan binder and filler. It earned Cigar Aficionado’s Cigar of the Year in 2015.
