The Southern Draw Manzanita Robusto is a 5 1/2 x 54 robusto: Habano Hybrid wrapper, Habano binder, and Pelo d’Oro, Corojo 99 and ligero filler plus leaf Southern Draw does not disclose. Robert Holt created the blend, and it is rolled at the AJ Fernandez factory in Estelí.
What It Tastes Like
Cigar Insider scored the Robusto 89 points on July 13, 2021, and called it medium-full. Its tasters found black pepper and a perfume-like note jostling at first, until sweeter almond and caramel notes brought it into balance. Halfwheel’s undated review of this size leaned earthy, with leather, peppermint and peanut butter early, a creamy, roasted middle and toast late. Its reviewer found the strength climbing from medium-plus toward full and wasn’t convinced the flavors earned that kick.

About the Manzanita Line
Manzanita, Spanish for “little apple” per the maker, debuted in December 2020 as a lone toro. The Robusto and a Gordo followed in 2021, and a Lancero was announced in September 2022.
