Tatuaje Havana VI Verocu Blue is a variation of the original Havana VI using a Nicaraguan shade grown Corojo ’99 wrapper over Nicaraguan filler and binder leaf. Rolled at the My Father factory in Esteli, Nicaragua it starts with a punch of red pepper that leads to softer notes of caramel, nuts, honey and musk.

Description
Pete Johnson spent four years perfecting the Tatuaje Havana VI Verocu Blue before finally releasing it at the 2022 PCA Trade Show — a genuine passion project, not a rushed line extension.
Construction & Origin
This line traces back through two earlier releases: the original Havana VI (2006), created as a milder, more affordable companion to Tatuaje’s Brown Label, and the Havana VI Verocú (2007), a stronger regional spinoff that eventually became regular production in 2015. The Blue takes that lineage further with a genuine innovation — Johnson originally planned an Ecuadorian Habano Claro wrapper, but ultimately settled on a rare, shade-grown Nicaraguan Corojo ’99 Rosado leaf grown exclusively on the García family’s own farms. That makes this a true 100% García puro, hand-rolled at My Father Cigars S.A. in Estelí. Each cigar wears a distinctive double band — the traditional red Tatuaje band paired with a bold navy blue Verocú sub-band, giving it a patriotic red-white-and-blue look.
Flavor Profile
Medium-full in body, expect toasted cedar, black pepper, buttered toast, and bright medium-roast coffee, with reviewers also noting earthy, barnyard, and creamy notes developing through the smoke. It’s described as a Cuban-esque profile — complex without tipping into harsh territory.
Why It’s Sought After
Few regular-production releases carry a backstory this deliberate — Johnson himself has said he kept second-guessing the blend and there was never a right time to fit it into the lineup, until the Corojo ’99 finally became ready to use. For collectors who appreciate genuine patience and craftsmanship behind a blend, the Verocú Blue represents one of Tatuaje’s most carefully developed modern releases.
