Construction & Origin

The original Belle Encre debuted in 2013 as part of Tatuaje’s 10th anniversary celebration, built around an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper. Ten years later, marking the brand’s 20th anniversary in 2023, Pete Johnson revisited the same 5¾ x 48 perfecto shape and swapped in a Mexican San Andrés wrapper — sourced specifically from the city of San Andrés Tuxtla, the heart of Mexico’s cigar-tobacco industry and the source of the “Tuxtla” name. Underneath sits a dual Nicaraguan binder and filler, hand-rolled at My Father Cigars S.A. Just 2,500 boxes of 20 were produced.

Flavor Profile

Medium-bodied at the start, building to medium-full through the back half, this cigar delivers mocha (coffee and chocolate), earth, mineral, citrus, and pepper. Cigar Coop’s own review called it “the belle of the ball” among all the Tuxtla releases, praising excellent burn, draw, and medium-plus complexity throughout — high enough marks to earn their Standard of Excellence designation.
