Description

The Tatuaje Havana VI Verocu No. 6 is a 6 1/8 x 52 torpedo wrapped in Ecuadorian Habano leaf, with Nicaraguan binder and filler inside. It comes from Verocu, the punchier branch of Tatuaje’s Havana VI red label, and is rolled at My Father Cigars in Nicaragua.

What It Tastes Like

JR Cigar’s listing for the No. 6 points to coffee, cream, nuts and a lively spice, and Holt’s describes the wider Verocu blend with cayenne, cocoa, coffee bean and wood. Both list it as medium, though Cigar Coop calls Verocu a stronger version of the regular Havana VI.

Who It’s For

  • Torpedo smokers who want the Verocu blend with a pointed head to clip.
  • Red-label smokers who already enjoy the Havana VI Artistas, also 6 1/8 x 52.
  • Ecuadorian Habano fans curious how that leaf sits on a Nicaraguan core.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • The only torpedo in Tatuaje’s Verocu vitola list
  • Made at My Father Cigars in Nicaragua, per Cigar Coop and JR Cigar
  • Shares one Ecuador-wrapped blend with the other numbered Verocu sizes

Cons

  • The red tube used for the 2009 version did not come back in 2016
  • The tapered head takes a careful cut

About the Verocu Line

Pete Johnson split the first Verocu release in 2007 between a western and an eastern regional cigar, and has likened the blend to a souped-up red label. Cigar Coop reports that the 6 1/8 x 52 shape was sold in red tubes in 2009 and rejoined the line in 20-count boxes at the 2016 IPCPR trade show.

Tatuaje Havana VI Verocu No. 6 FAQ

How strong is the Tatuaje Havana VI Verocu No. 6?

JR Cigar and Holt’s list it as medium, though Cigar Coop describes Verocu as stronger than the standard Havana VI.

Is the Verocu No. 6 a torpedo?

Yes. Tatuaje lists it as a 6 1/8 x 52 torpedo, the one tapered-head Verocu size.

How does the No. 6 compare with the Verocu No. 1?

Same blend, nearly the same size. The No. 1 is a straight 6 1/4 x 52 toro grande; the No. 6 is 1/8 inch shorter and tapers to a point.

Did the Verocu No. 6 ever come in a tube?

Yes. Cigar Coop reports that in 2009 this size was sold in red tubes. When the size returned in 2016 it was boxed in 20s without a tube, and we sell it as singles.

Pete Johnson’s other blends, from the Reserva range to Verocu Blue, are gathered on our Tatuaje cigars page.
