Description
The JFR Lunatic Maduro 7 x 70 is a seven-inch, 70-ring Nicaraguan cigar from Aganorsa Leaf, with Nicaraguan binder and filler finished with a dark Mexican wrapper grown in San Andrés. Cigar Aficionado and halfwheel both report that Aganorsa added it, along with a 6 1/2 x 60, to the Lunatic Maduro range in 2023.
What It Tastes Like
This exact vitola has no dated review yet, so a sibling has to stand in. Cigar Coop’s November 27, 2023 review of the Lunatic Maduro 10 x 100 put natural tobacco and earth in front, with cocoa in support, fruit cresting in the middle third and black pepper building toward the end. Strength and body both stayed medium for that reviewer. Treat those notes as a family likeness only.
Who It’s For
- Big-ring enthusiasts who want the full width of a 70 gauge in the hand.
- Smokers with an evening to spare, since seven inches at this girth is a long session.
- Maduro fans who prefer medium strength, which is how the store lists it and how Cigar Coop rated the 10 x 100.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Size and blend match in the halfwheel and Cigar Coop write-ups
- Binder and filler come from Aganorsa-owned Nicaraguan farms, per Cigar Aficionado
Cons
- This vitola still lacks a dated review and score of its own
- Sources name it two ways: just “7 x 70” or La Montaña
About the Lunatic Maduro Line
Cigar Coop traces the Lunatic Maduro family to 2015, when the company still traded as Casa Fernandez and introduced an 8 x 80 belicoso called Mambo.
