The Viaje White Label Project Mofongo is a 6 x 52 toro pairing an Ecuadorian Corojo wrapper with a Dominican binder and Dominican and Nicaraguan filler. It was rolled at Tabacalera La Isla in Santiago, Dominican Republic, and shipped in early 2023.
What It Tastes Like
We found no Cigar Aficionado rating, so halfwheel’s June 2023 review is the main published tasting. Peanuts and cedar led early, with toast, earth and hay behind them and white pepper plus a graham-like sweetness through the nose. Toasted bread and cedar took over later, joined by cocoa nibs, espresso beans and cinnamon. halfwheel placed it mid-pack among WLP releases: enjoyable, though fairly linear.

About the Mofongo and the WLP
Mofongo takes its name from the mashed-plantain dish eaten across the Caribbean. halfwheel traces the White Label Project to early 2011 as a home for Viaje cigars outside the regular series; more recently it has acted as a trial run for blends that may later graduate to their own branding.
