The name borrows straight from winemaking — “Late Harvest” wines come from grapes left on the vine longer to concentrate their sweetness, and Viaje built this line around the same idea, using tobacco leaves picked from the highest, latest-maturing primings on the plant.

Construction & Origin

Viaje’s original Late Harvest debuted in 2011, with the “Hang Time” variant following in 2013 — a version built from an even higher priming leaf than the standard Late Harvest, meant to push the intensity further still (“hang time” referring to how long the leaf stays on the stalk before picking). Both blends then disappeared for nearly a decade before Viaje brought them back in a limited 2021 release. This LH550 is the Robusto size, 5″ x 50, rolled at Tabacs Valle de Jalapa (TABSA) in Nicaragua as a true Nicaraguan puro. The wrapper leaf runs noticeably darker than the standard Late Harvest, with a coffee-bean color and colorado-red tint, a thicker, less oily complexion, and a distinctive pig-tail cap. As with most Viaje releases, exact blend specifics stay undisclosed, and production runs are genuinely limited.
