The Montecristo Edición Diamante Toro is a 6 x 55 box-pressed toro and a Nicaraguan puro from the Montecristo 1935 Anniversary Edición Diamante line. Its wrapper is a lower-priming hybrid leaf from Jalapa, the binder is Criollo from Ometepe island, and the filler blends three Estelí tobaccos.
What It Tastes Like
Cigar Insider, Cigar Aficionado’s newsletter, scored the Toro 90 points on September 19, 2023 and called it medium-full. Its panel found an earthy core sweetened by licorice, herbs and nuts dipped in chocolate, with an even burn but a slightly waxy close. Cigar Coop’s William Cooper also gave the Toro 90 in June 2024, rating strength and body medium; he found earth and natural tobacco up front, cedar, citrus and baking spice behind them, and pepper building past the midpoint.

About the Edición Diamante
Cigar Aficionado reports that this blend grew out of experiments during work on the 1935 Anniversary Nicaragua. Rafael Nodal and AJ Fernandez completed it in 2020, then held it back so the tobacco could age longer; it arrived in 2023 as its own line, made by Fernandez in Nicaragua and intended to be milder than the full-bodied original.
