Description

The Montecristo 90th Anniversary Nacional is a 5 1/2 x 56 cigar made entirely from Nicaraguan tobacco, with filler leaf from Estelí, Condega, Ometepe and Jalapa and a Jalapa-grown wrapper. Altadis U.S.A. released it in 2025 for Montecristo’s 90th year, and Cigar Coop reports that Plasencia S.A. rolls it in Estelí.

What It Tastes Like

A 90-point Cigar Insider rating dated October 21, 2025 was matched by Cigar Aficionado on February 1, 2026; their note describes oaky, floral smoke with vanilla, brown sugar and nut touches leading to a sweet, nutty close. Cigar Coop’s March 17, 2026 review was cooler at 88 points, with hay out front, cedar, natural tobacco, vegetal tones and pepper behind it, and a hint of roasted nut that dropped away in the final third.

Who It’s For

  • Thick-ring smokers, since Cigar Aficionado says the 56 gauge targets modern taste for heftier formats.
  • Montecristo collectors who want a cigar tied to the brand’s 90th year.
  • Medium-strength fans who want an all-Nicaraguan blend that stops short of full.
