Fuente Fuente Opus X Templo de Oro #8

The Fuente Fuente Opus X Templo de Oro #8 is one of four vitolas in Arturo Fuente’s Templo de Oro — “Temple of Gold” — a Forbidden X release that surfaced quietly in late December 2025 and quickly became one of the most talked-about new Opus X drops in years.

Construction & Origin

A true Dominican puro rolled at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia, this Toro-format cigar measures 6⅛″ x 55, one of four collector-tier sizes in the line (No.1, No.3, No.8, No.13), each released in 20-count boxes. What sets Templo de Oro apart visually is its striking, light golden-hued Colorado Claro wrapper — a real departure from the darker, more familiar Opus X look — with each cigar dressed in a gold foil sleeve and a red foot ribbon, and packaged using the same black Forbidden X bands plus a secondary band naming the cigar. Master blender Carlos “Carlito” Fuente Jr. has kept the exact blend specifications undisclosed, but confirmed the wrapper and construction are deliberately different from any prior Opus X release.

Flavor Profile

Medium-to-full bodied and notably smoother than a standard Opus X. Expect cedar and toasted wood up front, layered with soft spice, cream, and mineral depth, rounding into a subtle, restrained sweetness. Carlito himself has called it possibly the mildest and creamiest Opus X he’s ever made — a deliberate departure meant to showcase a different side of the Fuente house style rather than the brand’s usual full-bodied intensity.

Why It’s Sought After

Templo de Oro arrived with almost no advance notice and was gone from collectors’ radar just as fast — genuinely scarce, with tightly rationed allocations (some retailers limit it to one per customer). Combined with a wrapper and presentation unlike anything else in the Opus X catalog, and a blend Carlito has deliberately kept secretive, it’s become an instant chase item for serious Fuente collectors.
