Description
The Fuente Fuente OpusX Oro Oscuro Double Robusto is a 5 3/4 x 52 Dominican puro from Arturo Fuente, which files the Oro Oscuro blend under its OpusX family; Cigar Coop’s July 20, 2023 trade-show report likewise calls the line OpusX Oro Oscuro. Fuente’s Oro Oscuro page lists it among eight vitolas built on a longer-fermented, extra-aged wrapper over Dominican binder and filler.
What It Tastes Like
Fuente’s own text describes the smoke only in broad strokes, citing strength, balance and a dark-toned finish, and no outlet we checked has reviewed this exact vitola. The closest outside guide is Cigar Coop’s April 17, 2017 review of the 5 1/4 x 50 Rosado Oscuro Oro Robusto, an earlier OpusX under Dominican Rosado Oscuro leaf: cocoa, earth and mineral early, a passing burnt-cherry accent, then more white pepper late. halfwheel’s PerfecXion No. 4 review from that release adds sweet wood and warm nuts.
Who It’s For
- OpusX regulars curious how extra wrapper aging changes a familiar format.
- Smokers who like a 52 ring on a cigar just under six inches long.
- All-Dominican devotees drawn to a puro from a single origin.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Same 5 3/4 x 52 frame as the standard OpusX Double Robusto, isolating the wrapper difference
- All-Dominican tobacco, per Fuente
- Tobacco that Fuente’s page links to the soils of Chateau de la Fuente
Cons
- No independent review or score for this size turned up
- Cigar Coop judged the 2015 Rosado Oscuro Oro Robusto medium to medium-full
- Fuente’s page does not name the wrapper variety
About the Oro Oscuro Line
halfwheel’s write-up of the 2015 Rosado Oscuro Oro, marked by a gold foot ribbon, lists five sizes without a Double Robusto; Fuente’s current chart has eight, this one included, and no source dates its arrival.

Fuente Fuente OpusX Oro Oscuro Double Robusto FAQ
Is the Oro Oscuro Double Robusto an OpusX?
Yes. Fuente lists it on its OpusX Oro Oscuro page, and halfwheel and Cigar Coop covered the 2023 Oro Oscuro tins under the OpusX name.
What size is it?
Fuente’s Oro Oscuro chart gives 5 3/4 inches (146 mm) by a 52 ring gauge, matching our listing.
What sets the Oro Oscuro wrapper apart?
Fuente says the wrapper leaf is fermented and aged for longer than usual, and ties that step to a fuller, darker finish. Binder and filler are Dominican as well.

Our listing grades it full. Fuente gives no strength rating; Cigar Coop’s 2017 review of the Rosado Oscuro Oro Robusto went from medium to medium-full.
