Construction & Origin

In 2012, as Carlos “Carlito” Fuente Jr. was preparing something special to mark the company’s 100th anniversary, a factory fire destroyed bales of tobacco that had been aging for decades — tobacco set aside specifically for that milestone release. Rather than let the loss go unmarked, Fuente named the resulting cigar “Angel’s Share,” borrowing the winemaking term for the portion of liquid that naturally evaporates from barrels during aging, believed by tradition to be the angels’ toll for watching over and blessing the batch. This Double Corona measures 7 5/8″ x 49, a true Dominican puro built from vintage estate-grown filler and binder tobaccos grown at Chateau de la Fuente in the Cibao Valley, wrapped in a sun-grown leaf pulled from the plant’s middle priming. It’s handcrafted at the Fuente family’s Dominican Republic factory, and a portion of every sale goes to the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation, which supports education for children in the Dominican Republic’s tobacco-growing communities.
