In 2012, a factory fire destroyed bales of decades-aged tobacco that Carlos “Carlito” Fuente Jr. had set aside for a special release marking the company’s 100th anniversary. Rather than let the loss pass unmarked, Fuente named the resulting cigar “Angel’s Share,” borrowing winemaking’s term for the portion of liquid that naturally evaporates from barrels during aging — tradition holds that guardian angels watch over the aging spirit, sample it, and bless it in return. This Robusto is a true Dominican puro, handcrafted at the Fuente family’s Dominican Republic factory from vintage estate-grown tobaccos, wrapped in an alluring red-hued leaf. A portion of every sale supports the Cigar Family Charitable Foundation, which funds education for children in the Dominican Republic’s tobacco-growing communities.
