Description

The MBombay Mora Robusto is a 5 x 54 robusto with a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, an Ecuadorian binder and filler from Nicaragua, Honduras and Pennsylvania. It belongs to MBombay’s revived Mora line, rolled at Tabacos de Costa Rica in 2019 and held for roughly six years before its 2026 release.

What It Tastes Like

MBombay says the Mora leads with cocoa and earth, shifts toward pepper and cedar, and carries a faint orange note. Stogie Press, a smaller review site, scored the box-pressed 6 1/2 x 54 Toro of the same blend 96 in July 2026 and called it medium in strength. Their reviewer found pepper and tart fruit early, then espresso and chocolate, with plum, spice and dark cocoa late. We have not found a published rating for the Robusto itself.

Who It’s For

  • San Andrés wrapper fans curious how the leaf smokes after six years of rest.
  • Smokers who like a thick, shorter cigar and want the Mora blend in its smaller size.
  • Anyone exploring Costa Rican cigars beyond Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Rolled in 2019, so the tobacco has had years to settle before release
  • Production of 2,768 boxes of ten for the Robusto, per halfwheel
  • Rolled at Tabacos de Costa Rica, the same Puriscal factory behind MBombay’s Gaaja and M.Estelí

Cons

  • No major outlet has rated the Robusto size yet
  • A new blend, so fans of the 2014 Mora should expect something different

About the MBombay Mora

Mora first appeared in 2014 with a different, Dominican-wrapped blend. Mel Shah’s MBombay brought the name back in January 2026 with this new recipe in two sizes.

Pairing and Storage

Since we list the Mora Robusto as medium, it sits in the range our cigar pairing guide matches with bourbon, a balanced Rioja or a cup of coffee. Keep these long-aged cigars at steady humidity with our humidor basics guide.

MBombay Mora Robusto FAQ

How strong is the MBombay Mora Robusto?

MBombay’s release announcement did not give a strength rating. The only published review we found, Stogie Press on the Toro size, called it medium, and we list the Robusto as medium too.

When was the MBombay Mora rolled and released?

The Mora was rolled at Tabacos de Costa Rica in 2019 and rested until MBombay’s announced ship date of January 15, 2026, per Cigar Coop.

How many Mora Robusto boxes were made?

Halfwheel and Cigar Coop both report 2,768 boxes of ten for the Robusto, and 2,764 boxes for the Toro.

Is this the same blend as the original 2014 Mora?

No. Halfwheel notes that the 2014 Mora used a Dominican wrapper, a Peruvian binder and Dominican and Ecuadorian filler. The 2026 Mora is a new blend built on Mexican San Andrés.
