Alec Bradley Fine and Rare

When Alec Bradley first set out to build a cigar using 10 different types of tobacco in a single stick, most in the industry considered it impractical, if not outright impossible. Since that 2011 debut, Fine and Rare has become the brand’s most premium, technically ambitious release — an annual series that’s earned a devoted following.

Construction & Origin

Every Fine and Rare release is hand-rolled at Raíces Cubanas in Honduras, one of the most respected boutique factories in the region, using the most experienced rollers on staff to manage the sheer complexity of the blend. While the exact combination changes with each annual edition, the format stays true to its roots: typically one wrapper leaf from the Trojes region of Honduras, two binder leaves (often pairing Honduran and Nicaraguan tobacco), and seven distinct filler tobaccos — ten components total, packed into a single cigar. Production is genuinely limited each year, often capped around 1,500 boxes of 10 cigars, and once that year’s specific tobacco components run out, the blend retires for good, making way for an entirely new recipe the following year.

Flavor Profile

Rich and layered, reflecting the sheer number of tobaccos working together — expect notes ranging from roasted pepper and warm baking spice to nuts, caramel, dried fruit, and a creamy, buttery finish, depending on the specific year’s blend. The complexity here comes directly from the construction itself: with ten different tobaccos in play, each draw reveals something a little different than the last.

Why It’s Sought After

Fine and Rare has built a reputation as genuinely one of the more technically impressive projects in the premium cigar world — not just a marketing gimmick, but a real yearly challenge in blending that’s been sustained for well over a decade. Since each edition is a one-time-only recipe that disappears once the specific tobacco components are gone, collectors treat every new release as a genuine, time-limited event worth tracking down.
