Viaje Chicharrones Bold
Señor Andre’s Chicharrones is Viaje founder Andre Farkas’ own family recipe turned into a cigar — first released in 2015, gone from 2018 until a surprise comeback, and genuinely one of the rarest releases in the entire Viaje catalog.
Construction & Origin
Chicharrones comes in three variations, each built around a different wrapper: Original (Corojo), Spicy (Criollo), and this Bold blend, wrapped in a rich Nicaraguan Maduro leaf for extra depth. All three share the same Nicaraguan binder and filler tobacco, hand-rolled at the AGANORSA Leaf factory into a compact 4½” x 50 box-pressed Robusto. True to Viaje’s reputation, this is about as limited as a cigar release gets — most smokers have only ever heard of Chicharrones, never actually smoked one.
Flavor Profile
Medium to medium-full bodied, with real depth from that Maduro wrapper — expect dark chocolate, earth, charred wood, and espresso up front, with subtle baking spice and a touch of natural sweetness rounding things out. Reviewers consistently note excellent, consistent construction — an easy draw and even burn across the whole Chicharrones line, making it a genuinely enjoyable smoke beyond just the novelty of tracking one down.
Why It’s Sought After
Between Andre Farkas’ personal family-recipe backstory, the genuine scarcity (most releases sell out before most smokers even hear about them), and a real, well-reviewed flavor profile to back it up, Chicharrones Bold is a cult favorite among serious Viaje collectors. If you see it in stock, it’s worth grabbing — there’s no guarantee it’ll be back anytime soon.
