Description
The Room101 Johnny Tobacconaut Maduro Robusto measures 5 x 50 and keeps everything Nicaraguan: a maduro wrapper, plus binder and filler from the same country. AJ Fernandez produces it for Room101, and it is the one robusto in a maduro lineup completed by a 6 x 52 Toro and a 6 x 60 Gordo.
What It Tastes Like
halfwheel’s review of this size shows no date or score, so only its notes appear here. Pepper and anise hit first, then coffee and cocoa took the lead, with dried tea, burnt bread and cedar in support and a curious potting-soil note on the finish. By the midpoint the pepper eased, a dark-berry sweetness appeared in the retrohale and the finish leaned toward lemongrass in two of the three cigars; charred meat and anise carried the final third with nuts and chocolate. The reviewer ranked it among Room101’s better recent releases.

Room101 Johnny Tobacconaut Maduro Robusto FAQ
How strong is the Room101 Johnny Tobacconaut Maduro Robusto?
It gains power as it goes. halfwheel rated this exact size medium at first and near the top of medium-full by the end, which lines up with our medium-full listing; Cigar Aficionado’s launch story says Room101 aimed for a full-bodied smoke.
What tobacco is in the Johnny Tobacconaut Maduro Robusto?
Nicaraguan leaf from wrapper to filler. halfwheel and Cigar Coop list a maduro wrapper with Nicaraguan binder and filler, and Cigar Aficionado calls it an all-Nicaraguan blend.
How is it different from the regular Johnny Tobacconaut?
Room101’s page for the regular Connecticut blend, which Cigar Aficionado says launched in 2023, shows an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade leaf outside a Mexican binder. This robusto drops both for Nicaraguan tobacco, so only the filler country is shared.
Both Tobacconaut wrappers and the rest of our Room101 selection are on our Room101 brand page.
