Description
The Room101 Johnny Tobacconaut Maduro Toro is a 6 x 52 cigar wearing a dark Nicaraguan maduro wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and filler. Cigar Aficionado reports it is a regular-production blend made by AJ Fernandez, and the three-size maduro lineup began shipping on June 5, 2026.
What It Tastes Like
We found no published review of the Toro when we checked, so the nearest guide is halfwheel’s write-up of this blend’s 5 x 50 Robusto (undated, so we omit its score). The reviewer got black pepper and a fleeting anise note first, then espresso and cacao nibs took the lead, backed by earth and leather. Later thirds added a blackberry-like sweetness through the nose, almonds, cedar, charred meat and dark chocolate as the pepper faded. halfwheel rated strength medium at the start, climbing to the upper reaches of medium-full by the last third.
Who It’s For
- Connecticut Johnny Tobacconaut regulars wanting a heavier, darker version.
- Maduro smokers who enjoy coffee and cocoa tones in an all-Nicaraguan cigar.
- Toro lovers wanting a longer smoke than the Robusto.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Nicaraguan wrapper, binder and filler from AJ Fernandez
- A high point among recent Room101 cigars, per halfwheel’s Robusto review
Cons
- We found no published review of the Toro size as of October 2026
- halfwheel needed a burn touch-up on two of its three Robustos
