Description
The Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real No. 2 is a 6 1/8 x 52 belicoso from the original Reserva Real line, rolled in the Dominican Republic with an Ecuadorian Connecticut shade wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder and a filler of Dominican and Nicaraguan leaf. JR Cigar sells it as a box-pressed shape.
What It Tastes Like
We found no Cigar Aficionado score for the No. 2 itself. The closest guide is the magazine’s February 2026 review of the Reserva Real Corona (5 1/2 x 44, with the same listed wrapper, binder and filler): 91 points, mild-medium, with a sweet, bakery-style mix of vanilla, almond, brown sugar and citrus and a soft butterscotch close. For this size, JR Cigar lists earth, sweet cream, black pepper, coffee and graham cracker.
Who It’s For
- Robusto regulars after a longer, pressed take on the same tobaccos.
- Tapered-head fans who like setting the draw by how deep they cut.
- Shade-wrapper smokers who want medium body without a dark, peppery leaf.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Pressed belicoso shape, per Cigar Coop and JR Cigar
- Shares the line’s Ecuador Connecticut, Nicaraguan and Dominican blend
- The Corona from this line scored 91 with Cigar Aficionado (February 2026)
Cons
- No published Cigar Aficionado score for the No. 2 size
- Shape listings differ: Famous Smoke files it as a torpedo rather than a pressed belicoso
About the Reserva Real Line
When Altadis added a 7 x 54 Gran Churchill in 2015, Cigar Coop printed the full Reserva Real roster of 21 vitolas, from a 4 x 30 Minutos to a 7 1/2 x 40 Lancero, with the No. 2 as its box-pressed belicoso.

- Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real Magnum: a 6 x 60, the thickest ring on Cigar Coop’s 2015 list of the line.
Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real No. 2 FAQ
How strong is the Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real No. 2?
JR Cigar, Neptune and Famous Smoke’s spec table list it as medium; Thompson places the line between smooth and medium.
Is the No. 2 a torpedo or a belicoso?
Sources differ. Cigar Coop (2015) and JR Cigar call it a box-pressed belicoso, while Famous Smoke files it as a torpedo. All agree on 6 1/8 x 52.
Is the Reserva Real No. 2 made in Cuba?
No. It comes from the Dominican Republic, and JR Cigar’s Blending Room explains that Dominican-made Romeo y Julieta is overseen by Altadis U.S.A. for the U.S. market, so Cuban Romeo y Julieta reviews do not describe it.
How is it different from Reserva Real Nicaragua?
Per halfwheel, the Nicaragua edition is an all-Nicaraguan puro from A.J. Fernandez in EstelÃ; this No. 2 keeps the Ecuador-wrapped Dominican recipe.
