The Montecristo M Toro is a 6 x 52 toro with an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler, rolled in Nicaragua by AJ Fernandez for Altadis U.S.A. Altadis says the wrapper, grown by David Perez of A.S.P. Enterprises, aged for 20 years.
What It Tastes Like
Cigar Coop’s William Cooper scored the M Toro 90 in July 2025, rating strength and body both medium. Cream, cedar, peanut, citrus and bread showed early; from the midpoint cedar and peanut carried it, with black pepper building until it joined them in the last third. He admitted worrying it would be a run-of-the-mill Connecticut Shade, and wrote that it was not. A separate Smoking Syndicate write-up by Ben Lee on Cigar Coop (September 2025) gave it 93, and the M Toro placed No. 24 on Cigar Coop’s 2025 Cigar of the Year countdown.
