Description
The Cavalier Genève BII Viso Jalapa Robusto is a 5 x 50 box-pressed cigar that pairs a Jalapa-grown viso wrapper with a Nicaraguan binder and filler. Cavalier Genève has it made in Honduras at Fábrica Centroamericana de Tabaco, per Cigar Coop and halfwheel.
What It Tastes Like
Having found no review of the Robusto itself, we borrow notes from two sister sizes. Cigar Aficionado found the 5 x 54 Robusto Gordo toasty, with walnut, a meaty savoriness, sweet wood, raisin and a little salt. halfwheel’s Toro review, which shows no review date, leaned sweeter: chocolate and graham cracker early, then buttered popcorn with cedar and peanut.
Who It’s For
- Short-break smokers who want a pressed format shorter than the line’s 6-inch sizes.
- Nicaraguan tobacco fans curious how a viso leaf from Jalapa performs as a wrapper.
- Cavalier Genève newcomers wanting an all-Nicaraguan option rather than the San Andrés-wrapped Black II.
Pros and Cons

- The 5 x 54 Robusto Gordo earned 90 points from Cigar Insider (April 5, 2022) and again from Cigar Aficionado (October 1, 2022)
Cons
- We found no published rating for the 5 x 50 size
- Strength reports split: medium-full for the Robusto Gordo per Cigar Aficionado, below medium for the Toro per halfwheel
