Description
The Cavalier Genève Domaine Rouge Robusto Grande is a 5 x 54 robusto from Cavalier Genève, the Swiss brand owned by Sébastien Decoppet, rolled at Fábrica Centroamericana de Tabaco (FCT) in Danlí, Honduras. It wraps a Jamastrán Valley Habano leaf around a Honduran-grown Connecticut-seed binder and a filler drawn from Honduras, Nicaragua and Paraguay.
What It Tastes Like
Our tasting picture borrows from two sister sizes, since we found no review of the Robusto Grande itself. Cigar Aficionado’s June 1, 2024 rating of the Figurado describes nut and wood with cinnamon, citrus and vanilla over a sweet finish. Cigar Coop’s March 2025 Toro review leans more savory, centering on natural tobacco with earth and a pepper note that builds late.
Who It’s For
- Smokers short on time who still want a 54 ring rather than a slim format.
- Fans of Honduran tobacco curious about Jamastrán-grown Habano leaf.
- Medium-strength seekers who like spice without a heavy, full-bodied profile.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Paraguayan leaf in the filler adds an uncommon component alongside Honduran and Nicaraguan tobacco
- Regular-production line, according to Cigar Coop
Cons
- We found no published score for the Robusto Grande itself
- Tasting impressions differ between outlets, from sweet spice to earthy pepper
About the Domaine Rouge Line
Domaine Rouge arrived at the 2023 PCA show as the second blend under Cavalier Genève’s Inner Circle banner and it is dedicated to Decoppet’s late father, Pascal. Per Cigar Coop, the red in the name points to the color of the FCT factory building.
