Description
The Viaje Skull and Bones Cloudmaker is a 5 x 60 robusto gordo in Viaje’s Skull and Bones series, with a wrapper, binder and filler Viaje has not disclosed. Cigar Coop called the 2019 batch a Nicaraguan puro and listed the 2014 debut as a Skull and Bones White, not the Red that Viaje positions for stronger blends.
What It Tastes Like
No Cigar Aficionado score turned up in our search, and the two scored reviews we found both cover the 2014 debut. Cigar Coop gave it 90 points in October 2014, rating strength and body full: pepper, coffee and a burnt-cherry, citrusy sweetness early, then earth joining coffee as pepper crept back late. halfwheel scored the same release 82, calling it very full, with cedar and red pepper, then citrus, toasted bread and a salty edge. Later batches came from another factory.
Who It’s For
- Skull and Bones collectors filling the 5 x 60 slot next to the Big Ivan.
- Full-strength regulars; Cigar Coop aimed it at seasoned smokers who want power and body.
- Fans of a 60 ring with time to spare (halfwheel’s samples ran about 1 hour 40 minutes).
Pros and Cons
Pros
- A 90-point Cigar Coop score from October 2014
- An excellent draw, per Cigar Coop’s 2014 review
Cons
- halfwheel gave it 82 and fixed an uneven burn every 15 minutes or so
- Both scored reviews predate the move to a Nicaraguan factory in 2019
- Viaje hasn’t disclosed the tobaccos, per halfwheel’s 2014, 2019 and 2022 reports
