The Padrón 1964 Anniversary Series Torpedo Maduro is a 6 x 52 torpedo rolled entirely from Nicaraguan tobacco and finished in a dark maduro leaf. Padrón introduced the 1964 line as a box-pressed series, and this torpedo wears the press.
What It Tastes Like
Cigar Aficionado scored this exact cigar 94 points in its June 2001 issue. Tasters noted a dark leaf with a silky feel, a nearly faultless draw and a solid light-colored ash, plus cocoa, cream and nuts. In July 2011, Cigar Coop’s William Cooper found leather, earth and a pinch of cayenne early, then baking cocoa, cedary spice and late cinnamon and called it “Memorable.”

About the 1964 Anniversary Series
José O. Padrón and his son Jorge launched the series in 1994 to mark the company’s 30th anniversary. Cigar Aficionado reports that José wanted the press to recall cigars he smoked in Cuba, though Jorge has said the pressing method itself was not a Padrón invention.
