Description
The Padrón Series 1964 Principe Maduro is the smallest vitola in Padrón’s celebrated 1964 Anniversary Series, offering the line’s full depth of flavor in a shorter format built for a quicker smoke.
Construction & Origin
This 4 1/2 x 46 short cigar is a Nicaraguan puro, wrapped in a Nicaraguan Maduro leaf over Nicaraguan binder and filler, hand-rolled at Tabacos Cubanica S.A. in Estelí. The 1964 Anniversary Series was first released in 1994 to mark 30 years since José O. Padrón founded the company, and it remains one of Padrón’s most decorated lines, built from tobaccos aged longer than the original Thousand Series. The Principe’s compact size concentrates the same blend used across the rest of the 1964 line into a faster, more casual smoking experience.
Flavor Profile
Medium to full-bodied, the Principe Maduro delivers dark chocolate, espresso, and a mild pepper spice up front, with the shorter format bringing out a more concentrated, immediate version of the profile than the line’s longer vitolas. Expect a rich, satisfying finish packed into a smoke that typically runs 30 to 45 minutes.
Why It’s Sought After
The 1964 Anniversary Series has earned numerous Cigar of the Year honors from Cigar Aficionado over the years, and the Principe gives smokers a way to enjoy that same award-winning blend without committing to a full hour-plus smoke. It’s a popular choice for a quick break or a second cigar of the day among fans of the line.
