Description
The Padilla Before Night Falls Double Toro is a 6 x 60 Nicaraguan cigar that wraps a Corojo leaf around a Jalapa and Estelà filler blend. Ernesto Padilla developed it with Yaxel Ortiz, and this is the widest of the line’s four sizes.
What It Tastes Like
We have not found a dated independent review of the Double Toro from Cigar Aficionado, halfwheel or Cigar Coop, so we print no score or tasting notes. In its own shop copy, Padilla calls the Cuban-seed Corojo leaf bold and frames the cigar as a smoke for the hour around sunset.
Who It’s For
- Fans of a 60 ring gauge who still want to stay at six inches.
- Smokers who follow Yaxel Ortiz and want to try a blend he co-created for another brand.
- Corojo-wrapper buyers wanting Nicaraguan filler from both Estelà and Jalapa.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Shares one blend with the line’s three slimmer sizes, going by halfwheel’s size list
- The fattest format if you like a wide smoke in this blend
Cons
- No published, dated review of the 6 x 60 to lean on
- Binder and wrapper origin are disputed between our listing and halfwheel’s reports (see the FAQ)

halfwheel covered the launch at the 2025 PCA convention, where Padilla had his first booth in close to ten years, with shipping planned for summer 2025. According to halfwheel, Ortiz, who owns the factory, drew his widest attention when LeBron James took a Y.O. cigar to his press conference after the Cavaliers won the 2016 NBA Finals.
