Description
The Oliva Serie V Churchill Extra is a 7 x 52 Churchill made in Nicaragua, the thicker of the two 7-inch sizes in Oliva’s Serie V. Oliva lists a sun-grown Ecuadorian wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler, including Jalapa Valley ligero that gets a special fermentation.
What It Tastes Like
Cigar Aficionado and its Cigar Insider newsletter have rated this size at least seven times. In December 2025 it earned 92 points at medium-full: a cool, minty start turned creamy like a chocolate shake, then deepened into cocoa, leather and earth before closing on cinnamon spice. Its peak came when the magazine placed it No. 5 in its Top 25 of 2022 at 95 points, noting raisin, baked apple, cinnamon, nuts and a mineral edge. The June 2026 review gave 89 points for woody notes with anise and roasted nuts.

About the Serie V
Cigar Aficionado’s Top 25 write-up traces Oliva from budget cigars in 1995 to premium lines in the mid-2000s, with the Serie V arriving in 2007. The same piece notes that Belgium’s Vandermarliere family bought the company in 2016.
Pairing and Storage
Between medium and full, it suits the bourbon or espresso our pairing guide suggests for medium cigars, or the aged rum it lists for fuller smokes.
