The Fonseca by My Father Robusto is a 5 1/4 x 52 robusto made entirely of Nicaraguan leaf: a shade-grown Corojo ’99 rosado wrapper outside, Nicaraguan binder and filler inside, all handmade in Nicaragua by My Father Cigars. It is one of six sizes in the Garcia family’s 2020 relaunch of the Cuban-born Fonseca name.
What It Tastes Like
Cigar Aficionado’s ratings database lists three 90-point scores for this robusto (Cigar Insider, October 13, 2020; December 2020; February 2022), rating it medium-full each time. The 2020 notes describe dried fruit, red pepper and cinnamon, ending on cedar and orange peel; the 2022 note leans toward oak, leather and cocoa. Cigar Coop also gave it 90 (January 28, 2022), tasting tobacco, hay and black pepper early, with earth taking the lead by the midpoint.

About Fonseca by My Father
Don Francisco Fonseca started the brand in Havana in 1892, and the Quesada family made a Dominican Fonseca beginning in 1974. My Father Cigars purchased the U.S. rights from the Quesadas in December 2019, then shipped its own Nicaraguan version in 2020.
