The Fonseca by My Father Toro Gordo is a 6 x 55 toro wrapped in shade-grown, rosado-hued Corojo 99 leaf, with Nicaraguan binder and filler; every leaf comes from Garcia family farms. My Father rolls it in Estelí, Nicaragua.
What It Tastes Like
In its October 13, 2020 issue, Cigar Insider, the Cigar Aficionado newsletter, awarded the Toro Gordo 87 points and judged it medium. Tasters found a woody core with a faintly medicinal streak, plus menthol, herbs and spices like chili and cumin; the draw was good, the burn blistered.

How Fonseca Came to My Father
Cigar Coop points out that, unlike La Antiguedad, La Opulencia and La Gran Oferta, old Cuban names the Garcias revived, Fonseca was already being made outside Cuba when My Father bought it from the Quesadas at the end of 2019. The Garcias chose a fresh Nicaraguan blend over the Dominican recipes, and Cigar Aficionado reported shipments were set to begin August 28, 2020.
