Description
The Montecristo Cincuenta 50 Años Toro is a 6 x 50 box-pressed toro with an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, a Dominican binder and a filler of Nicaraguan and Dominican leaf. Altadis U.S.A. rolls it at Tabacalera de García in La Romana, Dominican Republic.
What It Tastes Like
Cigar Coop gave the Cincuenta Toro 90 points in September 2020 and rated both strength and body medium. The reviewer opened on raw tobacco, hay, red pepper and earth, with cedar arriving soon after and growing through the middle; in the final third pepper moved up beside tobacco and cedar, while citrus and hay lingered behind. Neptune Cigar’s listing points to vanilla, coffee and a little spice.

Montecristo Cincuenta 50 Años Toro FAQ
How strong is the Montecristo Cincuenta 50 Años Toro?
Medium. Cigar Coop rated both strength and body medium in its September 2020 review, and Neptune Cigar describes it as medium-bodied.
What does the 50 Años band celebrate?
Fifty years of Tabacalera de García, the Altadis U.S.A. factory in La Romana. Halfwheel points out that it does not mark the Montecristo brand’s own anniversary, since the brand goes back to 1935.
Is the Cincuenta Toro box-pressed?
Yes. Halfwheel reports that both Cincuenta sizes shipped to shops in 2019 were box-pressed, and Neptune Cigar also lists the Toro as pressed.
Is this a Cuban Montecristo?
No. It is the U.S.-market Montecristo from Altadis U.S.A., rolled in the Dominican Republic, so it is a different cigar from the Cuban Montecristos made by Habanos, and their ratings do not apply to it.
