Description
The Matilde Oscura Robusto is a 5 1/4 x 50 cigar that pairs a Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper with Dominican, Nicaraguan and Pennsylvania filler. Oscura was the second blend from José Seijas’s Matilde Cigars, unveiled at IPCPR in 2015 as a heavier counterpart to the Renacer, and halfwheel lists its release as Oct. 7, 2015.
What It Tastes Like
This exact size has two Cigar Aficionado ratings. Its April 2016 review gave it 91 points at medium-full strength, noting earthy, coffee-bean flavors lifted by cinnamon and a doughy sweetness. A later tasting, published in August 2018, came in at 89 points and found nuts and cedar over an earthy core with an herbal close.
Who It’s For
- San Andrés fans who like an oily, dark wrapper in a standard robusto frame.
- Matilde smokers stepping up from Renacer or Serena to the family’s fuller blend.

About the Oscura Line
