The Liga Privada Velvet Rat is one of the more unusual releases in the entire Liga Privada catalog, a small-batch “Rat” vitola built around a wrapper leaf that sets it apart from the rest of the lineup. Construction & Origin
Rolled as a lonsdale at 6 1/4 x 46, the Velvet Rat combines a Connecticut Broadleaf “High” Mediums wrapper with a Brazilian binder and long-filler tobaccos from Honduras and Nicaragua. Every cigar is hand-rolled at Drew Estate’s La Gran Fabrica Drew Estate in Estelí, Nicaragua. Its wrapper choice sets it apart from the darker Connecticut Broadleaf used on Liga Privada’s flagship No. 9, giving the Velvet Rat a distinct place within the brand’s family of small-batch releases.
Flavor Profile
The Connecticut Broadleaf “High” Mediums wrapper brings a different top note than the brand’s darker Broadleaf blends, opening with cedar and black pepper before moving into cocoa, roasted nuts, and a subtle natural sweetness.
