The Fuente Fuente Opus X 25th Anniversario Tributo commemorates 25 years of the world’s first Dominican puro, and doubles as a personal tribute from Carlos “Carlito” Fuente Jr. to his late father, Carlos Fuente Sr., who passed away in 2016 — hence the name “El Tributo.”

Construction & Origin

A true Dominican puro rolled at Tabacalera A. Fuente y Cia, this Churchill (7″ x 50) uses a wrapper grown at Chateau de la Fuente — a hybrid cross between the original Corojo-seed wrapper and a leaf developed specifically for this release, lighter in color since it comes from a mid-section priming rather than the top-priming leaf used on the standard OpusX. Fuente describes its strength as more intense than the 20th Anniversary series but less than the standard red-label OpusX. It’s identifiable by its green-rendered OpusX primary band and a secondary “Opus 25” band, and comes packaged in traditional 25-count wooden boxes, with every box lid carrying a personal dedication written by Fuente Jr. to his father.

Flavor Profile

Full-bodied and evolving. Expect cedar, baker’s spice, and natural tobacco sweetness early on, moving into cherry sweetness, cream, and black pepper through the middle, and finishing with darker spice, wood, and rich tobacco. A layered smoke that rewards patience — several reviewers note it benefits from a month or two of rest before smoking.
