Description
The El Mago Collectible Tin Series Cavalry 5 Pack is a tin of five box-pressed 5 x 50 robustos with a corojo wrapper of undisclosed origin over Nicaraguan binder and Dominican and Nicaraguan filler. Per halfwheel, MGE Cigars makes it in Estelí, and it shipped to stores in May 2026 as the fourth blend in El Mago’s tin series, after Oyama Omen, Mr. Almond and Jug.
What It Tastes Like
Cigar Dojo’s May 28, 2026 release story lists nut, oak and sweet berry notes and places the blend around medium. halfwheel’s review found a soft, creamy start with pepper strongest through the nose, then campfire smoke and a snack-mix note at the midpoint, along with a hint of vanilla. The last third turned woody and earthy with black pepper. halfwheel rated the body medium-full and strength just under medium, with each cigar lasting about two hours.
Who It’s For
- Corojo-wrapper fans who want a creamy, peppery robusto in a pressed shape.
- Flavor-first smokers who would rather skip a heavy nicotine hit.
- El Mago followers collecting each blend of the tin series.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Five matching robustos packed together in one tin
- halfwheel tracked clear changes, from creamy to smoky to woody
Cons
- halfwheel needed at least one relight on each of its three samples
- The corojo wrapper’s country of origin is undisclosed, per halfwheel
About El Mago
Nick Fusco launched El Mago Cigars in 2022 as a tribute to his grandparents, Maria and Gonzalo Torre, per Cigar Coop. The tin series began in March 2026, and El Mago plans seven or more blends for it, per halfwheel.
Pairing and Storage
Since the Cavalry sits near medium strength (our listing says medium; halfwheel found it just under), the medium-strength picks in our cigar pairing guide suit it: bourbon, Rioja or an espresso.
