Description
The Viaje Skull and Bones FOAB is a 4 1/2 x 56 short robusto with a Nicaraguan sun-grown criollo wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler. FOAB stands for “Father of All Bombs,” and this cigar is the wider-ringed sibling of Viaje’s MOAB.
What It Tastes Like
We found no Cigar Aficionado rating for the FOAB, so these notes come from its March 2012 debut. Cigar Coop scored it 90 points, finding cherry and coffee on the cold draw, black pepper early, then chocolate in the second half as strength rose from medium-full to full. halfwheel’s unscored review of the same release led with bitter espresso, cedar, leather and earth, a quiet sweetness gaining ground. The 2019 and 2022 batches came from a different factory and may smoke differently.
Who It’s For
- Seasoned smokers of strong Nicaraguan cigars; Cigar Coop warned off beginners.
- Fans of a fat ring in a compact length (about 75 minutes for halfwheel).
- Skull and Bones followers working through the bomb-named sizes.

Viaje Skull and Bones FOAB FAQ
What does FOAB stand for?
Father of All Bombs, the nickname of a Russian thermobaric bomb, per halfwheel. Cigar Aficionado reported that Andre Farkas picked bomb names to signal strength.
How strong is the Viaje FOAB?
Reviews of the 2012 debut differ: Cigar Coop had it reaching full in the last third, while halfwheel found it topped out at medium-full, which is how our listing rates it.
What’s the difference between the FOAB and the MOAB?
Mainly ring gauge. In the 2012 release both were 4 1/2 inches with criollo wrappers, the FOAB at 56 ring and the MOAB at 52, and halfwheel judged the two near twins apart from that size gap.
Where is the Viaje FOAB made?
The 2012 debut came from RaÃces Cubanas in Honduras; halfwheel reported the 2019 and 2022 batches were rolled at Aganorsa’s TABSA factory in EstelÃ, Nicaragua.
