Description
Stallone The Pony is a stubby 4 x 58 short gordo dressed in an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper, with a Nicaraguan binder and a filler that mixes Nicaraguan tobacco with Connecticut broadleaf. halfwheel lists it as rolled at Las Villas Cigars in Nicaragua, which previously operated under the Tabacalera La Perla name.
What It Tastes Like
Stogie Press awarded it 93 points on August 16, 2021, judging it mild to medium and picking up pepper, cedar and a hint of citrus at the start, caramel, malt, cocoa and nuts as the first third closed, and a faint vanilla note only near the end. halfwheel’s Charlie Minato was far less taken: his samples tasted bitter and parched throughout, leaning on grain, earth and mustiness with white pepper and brown mustard, and he rated the strength medium-full to full, above Stallone’s own medium label.

About The Pony

Cigar Coop notes that owner Tony Barrios competes in cutting-horse events and that the Cowboy Series blends take their names from horse coat colors.
