Description
The Rocky Patel Special Edition Robusto is a box-pressed 5 1/2 x 50 robusto with an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan filler. It is the smallest of three sizes in Rocky Patel’s Special Edition line, alongside a 6 1/2 x 52 Toro and a 6 x 60 Sixty.
What It Tastes Like
Cigar Aficionado gave this robusto 92 points in August 2017 in Cigar Insider and judged it medium-full. Their note describes earth balanced against nuttiness, a flavor they likened to chocolate-dipped almonds, plus hints of roasted coffee bean and a cedar finish with a slight tang.

About the Special Edition Line
Cigar Coop reports that Rocky Patel introduced Special Edition at the 2016 IPCPR trade show and gave it a nationwide launch that October. The company rolls it at TAVICUSA, its factory in EstelÃ, using a double binder that it has not fully disclosed.
Pairing and Storage
Since Cigar Aficionado picked up roasted coffee in this robusto, espresso fits well, and the medium tier of our cigar pairing guide also points to bourbon or a Rioja.
