Description

The Mi Querida Triqui Traca No. 764 is a 7 x 64 gordo from Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust, with a dark Connecticut broadleaf No. 1 wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan filler spiked with Dominican ligero. Halfwheel and Cigar Coop credit the NACSA factory in Estelí, and halfwheel gives a September 24, 2020 release date.

What It Tastes Like

Halfwheel’s review of the No. 764 (no score given) opened on bread, leather, chocolate and cream, plus a hint of cream soda and light pepper. In the second third, earthiness took charge, joined by muddy, damp-leaf notes and toast; the last third brought mustard, sunflower seed and white pepper, with bread on the finish. Dunbarton’s own notes point to earth, dark chocolate and bitter espresso.

Who It’s For

  • Big-ring smokers after the widest Triqui Traca.
  • Mi Querida regulars curious how Dominican ligero changes the Gran Búfalo size.
  • Patient smokers with a free evening.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Halfwheel judged the construction excellent and the smoke output huge
  • Dark No. 1 broadleaf wrapper, per Dunbarton

Cons

  • Halfwheel saw the burn slow in the middle and large chunks of ash drop
  • The same review said it may not suit smokers with low nicotine tolerance

About the Triqui Traca Line

The name is Nicaraguan slang for oversized street firecrackers. Cigar Coop reports the blend began as the stronger alternate recipe from Steve Saka’s 2018 Mi Querida Firecracker for Two Guys Smoke Shop; the first two sizes were slated for the 2019 trade show, and the No. 764 followed in 2020.

Mi Querida Triqui Traca No. 764 FAQ

How strong is the Mi Querida Triqui Traca No. 764?

Sources split. Dunbarton presents Triqui Traca as possibly the boldest blend it has released, Neptune Cigar calls the No. 764 full-bodied and JR Cigar lists the line as full, but halfwheel’s review of this size put strength at medium-plus early, settling to medium.

What does No. 764 mean?

The frontmark is the size: 7 inches long with a 64 ring gauge. Dunbarton does not spell this out, but each of the five frontmarks it lists matches its dimensions.

How long does the No. 764 take to smoke?

Plan on an evening: halfwheel’s samples took from about 3 3/4 hours to nearly 4 3/4 hours to reach the last inch.

Is the No. 764 the same size as the Mi Querida Gran Búfalo?

Yes. Cigar Coop pairs the two as 7 x 64 counterparts; the Gran Búfalo carries the original Mi Querida blend, without Dominican ligero.
