Description
The Mi Querida Muy Gordo Grande is a 6 x 56 parejo from Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust that wraps Nicaraguan binder and filler in a dark Connecticut broadleaf leaf. Dunbarton says it is made at the NACSA factory under master cigarmaker Raul Disla, and halfwheel places that factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.
What It Tastes Like
We found no published review of this exact size, so the closest guide is the same blend in a slimmer format. Cigar Coop’s William Cooper scored the 6 x 52 Ancho Largo 93 points on October 5, 2016, tasting steady earth, a cocoa-and-fruit sweetness that receded late, and red pepper that built toward the nub, with strength climbing from medium to medium-full. Dunbarton’s own notes list earth, chocolate, coffee and a little pepper.
Who It’s For
- Broadleaf fans wanting the original Mi Querida at 56 ring.
- Unhurried smokers: Cigar Coop’s 6 x 52 lasted over two hours.
- Experienced smokers, whom Cigar Coop named first when suggesting who should try the 6 x 52.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- The Ancho Largo ranked No. 6 in Cigar Coop’s 2016 Cigar of the Year countdown
- Excellent burn and draw on that 6 x 52, per Cigar Coop (October 2016)
Cons
- We found no independent review of the 6 x 56 itself
- Cigar Coop found the Ancho Largo’s creaminess gone by the last third
About the Mi Querida Line
Halfwheel says Mi Querida, Spanish for “my mistress,” was Dunbarton’s second line, launched in July 2016 with the Muy Gordo Grande among its first sizes. Cigar Coop tied it to founder Steve Saka’s broadleaf past, including Liga Privada No. 9 at Drew Estate.
