The MBombay MQBA Mayura Toro is the most premium cigar MBombay has ever released — a blend built entirely around patience. “Mayura” is Sanskrit for peacock, and the cigar carries that same sense of quiet luxury, right down to the white-and-gold band with a golden peacock at its center.

Construction & Origin

Mayura is South American-forward: an Ecuadorian HVA wrapper and binder, both grown on MBombay’s own farm, wrapped around a filler blend of Paraguayan, Peruvian, and Nicaraguan tobacco. Every leaf is rolled at the Tabacos de Costa Rica factory. What sets this cigar apart is the aging — the filler alone rests for 24 years, the wrapper and binder for another 5 to 6, and the finished, rolled cigar is aged an additional 4 years before it ever reaches a humidor. Altogether, that’s more than 30 years of combined aging in a single stick. In this larger Toro format, that same blend gets a longer burn to unfold in.

Flavor Profile

Expect a smooth, medium-brown wrapper with light marbling, and a smoking experience reviewers describe as sweet nuttiness layered with warm spice, mild nutmeg, and a faint fruity tang — building into a rich, creamy smoke that’s earned scores as high as 95 from cigar press outlets. The Toro’s added length gives the blend a bit more room to develop through each third.

Why It’s Sought After

Mayura first launched in 2019 as MBombay’s most ambitious project yet, then disappeared for four years after a string of setbacks for owner Mel Shah — including a COVID-era shipment lost to container damage and a serious health scare.
