Description

The Liga Privada Ratzilla is a 6 1/4 x 46 cigar from Drew Estate’s Único Serie, with a stalk-cut Connecticut Habano wrapper, Brazilian Mata Fina binder and Nicaraguan and Honduran filler. Drew Estate says it shares the Dirty Rat’s T52 Habano wrapper leaf and calls it the creamier, silkier take on that blend.

What It Tastes Like

Cigar Coop’s William Cooper scored the Ratzilla 94 in July 2012 and rated its strength and body as full. He found coffee, earth and leather early, plus a citrus sweetness after each draw and pepper on the retrohale. Chocolate and an orange-tinged spice took over by the first third, with a creamy note underneath.

Who It’s For

  • Dirty Rat smokers wanting a longer version.
  • Seasoned smokers, the group Cigar Coop’s reviewer leaned toward recommending it to.
  • Fans of slimmer shapes who prefer 46 ring over a fat toro.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • Scored 94 by Cigar Coop (July 2012), which praised its burn and draw
  • A fanned pigtail tops the head, per Cigar Coop

Cons

  • Cigar Coop’s full strength rating may make it a lot for newer smokers
  • The only review we could verify dates from 2012

About the Liga Privada Único Serie

Drew Estate describes the Único Serie as bold micro-blends, and Cigar Coop notes that each one comes in a single size. Cigar Coop reported that Ratzilla debuted in 2012 at a Casa de Montecristo event in Countryside, Illinois.

Pairing and Storage

For a cigar this strong, our cigar pairing guide points to peated single malt, aged rum or a barrel-aged Old Fashioned.
