Description
The La Galera Connecticut El Lector is a 6 x 54 toro with a light Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over Dominican binder and filler, made by Jochy Blanco’s Tabacalera Palma in the Dominican Republic. Per Cigar Aficionado (February 2016), every leaf except the wrapper comes from Blanco’s own fields. Outlets name the inner leaves differently: Cigar Aficionado and Cigar Coop cite Piloto Cubano, Criollo ’98 and a varietal called T-112, while halfwheel lists Pelo de Oro and a Corojo binder.
What It Tastes Like
We found no dated independent review of this exact size, so these notes come from sister vitolas. Cigar Coop scored the 5 1/8 x 50 Chaveta 89 on July 2, 2016, noting cherry and wood, then citrus, with pepper on the retrohale as strength rose from mild toward medium. In its Aug. 1, 2026 issue, Cigar Aficionado rated the 6 1/8 x 52 Cortador torpedo 87 at medium strength, with wood and grass covering faint vanilla and peanut before a slightly bitter finish.
Who It’s For
