Description
The Crowned Heads Las Calaveras Limitada 2024 LC54 carries genuine emotional weight behind the blend — an annual release that translates to “The Skulls” and pays tribute to those the company lost over the past year, celebrating their lives rather than mourning them.
Construction & Origin
Las Calaveras debuted in 2014 and has released every year since, with 2024 marking the 11th consecutive edition. This 6 x 54 toro is finished in a Nicaraguan Habano wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler, grown by the García family and hand-rolled at My Father Cigars S.A. Just 1,500 boxes of 24 were produced for this size, alongside 3,000 single-cigar samplers. Crowned Heads co-founder Jon Huber said the final blend reminded him immediately of the beloved 2015 Las Calaveras — one of his personal favorites in the series’ history. As with every year, the band’s design carries specific colors and coin details honoring loved ones the Crowned Heads team lost.
Flavor Profile
Medium to full-bodied, this cigar opens with black pepper and a savory, almost meaty richness, developing into dark chocolate, raisin, musky wood, and light herbal notes, with mocha, dried fruit, and nuttiness building through the second and final thirds. One longtime reviewer called it “one of the best Las Calaveras blends” smoked in years — a genuinely well-performing, balanced Nicaraguan smoke, even if not the most complex in the series’ history.
Why It’s Sought After
Las Calaveras has built a real cult following since 2018, and 2024 marked a special milestone — the series’ 10th anniversary, celebrated with both this standard release and a separate limited Décimo Aniversario edition. With each year’s blend never repeated and production capped in the low thousands of boxes, this remains one of the most anticipated annual limited editions in the entire cigar industry.
