Description
The Black Works Studio Boondock Corona Larga is a 6 1/4 x 46 cigar whose Pennsylvania broadleaf wrapper covers a Nicaraguan habano binder plus filler from Nicaragua, Pennsylvania and Connecticut. EstelÃ’s Fabrica Oveja Negra rolls it, and Cigar Coop’s 2017 coverage of the line’s wider launch names it alongside the Robusto.
What It Tastes Like
Cigar Coop’s October 23, 2017 review of this size, under its earlier Boondock Saint name, found chocolate, coffee, cedar and minerals, pepper through the nose, and black coffee taking over after the midpoint, at medium-full strength and body. Tiny Tim’s cigar blog, in an April 2026 post, picked up lemon, apple and brown sugar over earthy coffee, reaching full body by the second third. Oveja Negra’s 2026 announcement pairs dried-fruit sweetness, raisin included, with forceful spice.
Who It’s For
- Corona-format smokers who prefer something slimmer than a robusto.
- Coffee and chocolate fans drawn to darker notes.
- Broadleaf enthusiasts wanting Pennsylvania leaf inside and out.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- A longer, slimmer smoke than the Robusto from the same 2026 run
- Cigar Coop’s 2017 review found the draw close to ideal and the burn straight
- Same recipe as earlier releases, per Cigar Coop and halfwheel
Cons
- Few published reviews of the 2026 batch so far
- Likely too heavy for mild-cigar smokers
About the Boondock Line
Black Label Trading Co. founder James Brown started Black Works Studio as a separate brand in 2015, per Cigar Coop, and Boondock first surfaced as Boondock Saint. Cigar Dojo described the 2019 batch as its third annual run, and after a turn in the 2025 Boombox sampler the blend came back as a full release in early 2026.
