Description
The Avo Syncro Nicaragua Fogata Toro Tubo is a round 6 x 54 toro in its own tube, wrapped in Ecuadorian habano 2000 clara leaf over a Mexican San Andrés negro binder. The filler pairs Dominican Yamasa leaf and San Vicente ligero with Nicaraguan ligero from Estelí and viso from Condega, per halfwheel.
What It Tastes Like
The Cigar Authority, a retailer, reviewed this tubed size on May 30, 2018. They found cedar, vanilla, caramel and coffee early, a meatier middle with char, oak and a hint of pepper on the retrohale, and a salty, nutty close with espresso. The May 2016 launch text published by Cigar Dojo listed coffee, cedar, citrus, salt and sweetness.
Who It’s For
- Golfers and travelers wanting a tubed toro.
- Fans of round cigars who liked the Syncro blend idea but not the press.
- Habano fans curious about a lighter clara shade.
Pros and Cons
Pros
- Tube adds protection outside the humidor
- Filler mixes Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos, per halfwheel
Cons
- We found no dated independent rating for this exact size
- The 54 ring may feel thick to fans of slimmer cigars
About the Fogata Blend
Davidoff added the Fogata to its Syncro Nicaragua family in 2016, with U.S. shipping set for June 27 that year, per halfwheel. Cigar Aficionado’s May 2016 report says the cigars are rolled at OK Cigars in the Dominican Republic; our listing and Mike’s Cigars give Nicaragua as the origin. The launch list named four boxed sizes, none tubed.
Pairing and Storage
For a medium cigar, our pairing guide points to bourbon, a Rioja-style red or a cup of coffee. For longer keeping, see our humidor basics guide.

What size is the Avo Syncro Nicaragua Fogata Toro Tubo?
6 x 54, matching the boxed Fogata Toro, per The Cigar Authority and Mike’s Cigars.
What does Fogata mean?
It is the Spanish word for a campfire, per Avo Uvezian as quoted by Cigar Aficionado in May 2016. Neither CA nor halfwheel mentions fire-cured tobacco.
How strong is the Fogata Toro Tubo?
We list it as medium, as does Mike’s Cigars for the Fogata line; we found no independent strength rating for this size.
How is the Fogata different from the original Syncro Nicaragua?
Per halfwheel, it is round rather than pressed, trades the Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper for habano 2000 clara, and uses a Mexican binder and more Nicaraguan filler.
