Description
The Amar by AJ Fernandez Torito measures 6 1/2 x 50 and uses Nicaraguan tobacco throughout, from the Habano wrapper to the binder and filler. halfwheel and Cigar Coop credit AJ Fernandez’s San Lotano factory, which halfwheel places in Ocotal, and it is the longest but thinnest of the four Amar vitolas.
What It Tastes Like
Cigar Insider’s August 11, 2026 rating of this exact size picks up pecan and honey sweetness against chili-flake heat, plus some oak and cinnamon, finishing on cedar, and calls the strength medium-full. halfwheel’s undated review covered the 6 x 56 Toro instead: wood, earth, leather and salty pepper first, later nuts, berry sweetness and lemon, with strength rising toward full. A sponsored A.J. Fernandez feature hosted on Cigar Aficionado’s site rates it medium in strength, with earth, wood, spice and a little citrus.

About the Amar Line
Per the company, Fernandez built Amar as a thank-you to the people who helped his company recover from the March 2025 fire at its main Estelà factory. Retailers first saw it at the April 2026 PCA trade show in New Orleans, and Cigar Aficionado reported shipments starting that May.
