Description
The United Cigars Abuelo Nieta is a slim 5 1/4 x 44 cigar with a Honduran Habano wrapper over Honduran Corojo binder and filler, all grown on the JRE Tobacco farm. Its name means granddaughter, and it is the narrowest of the four sizes Cigar Coop listed when the line came out.
What It Tastes Like
The closest guide is Cigar Coop’s October 29, 2021 review of the Abuelo Padre, a 6 x 52 toro with the same blend. Cigar Coop scored the Padre 90 points and rated it mild-medium early, settling at medium strength with medium body. Bread, cedar and baker’s spice opened, red pepper and citrus soon joined, and bread with natural tobacco moved to the front by the midpoint. The Nieta’s thinner ring gauge shifts the wrapper-to-filler ratio, so it may not smoke exactly like the Padre.

About the Abuelo Line
Abuelo, Spanish for grandfather, first appeared more than 20 years before 2021, tied to John, a soon-to-be grandfather and brother-in-law of United Cigars owner David Garofalo; it went dormant after John died. Garofalo revived it in 2021 with Julio R. Eiroa, who had also made the first version, rolling them at Fabrica de Puros Aladino in Las Lomas, Jamastrán.
